Le Figaro: Ukraine ignites the fuse for a third world war
The French Le Figaro newspaper criticized the proposal of Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba to exclude Russia from the UN Security Council.
The newspaper pointed out that the demands of the Ukrainian President, Vladimir Zelensky, and his government are constantly increasing, and they advised him to seek an end to the conflict with Moscow.
“Is Zelensky delusional that he is a global emperor? Or is he serving other emperors? Despite his access to billions of dollars in weapons, he must reason to end the crisis and bring peace… Let’s stop this mass killing” one commentator wrote.
Another added: “This is what happens when a comedian gets involved… He cannot get out of the role of the brave soldier in international politics… He doesn’t know what the United Nations is, nor has he read its history… I don’t rule out his request to replace it with NATO in the future”.
Another commented: “The exclusion of Russia from the United Nations means that we will enter a third world war, and there will be nothing left on earth for environmentalists to worry about”.
Another wrote: “Ukrainians are asking for a lot, and it looks like they are going to thank the world for their help, by sparking World War III”.
It is noteworthy that the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Dmitry Kuleba, called earlier to deprive Russia of its permanent seat in the UN Security Council, and called for its exclusion from the United Nations.
For his part, Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, confirmed earlier that depriving Russia of its permanent seat in the Security Council isn’t possible under the organization’s charter.
In turn, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergey Vershinin, explained that the implementation of Kuliba’s proposal requires making radical amendments in the laws and provisions of the United Nations, which in turn require the approval of the permanent members of the Security Council, and two-thirds of the member states, indicating that such a decision will not simply pass.
