Large-scale Russian attack on Ukraine’s energy facilities

Russia launched a large-scale attack with dozens of missiles on Wednesday on Ukrainian energy facilities.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia had launched air strikes on energy facilities across Ukraine, targeting seven regions with more than 50 missiles as well as drones.

The Russian attacks, officials said, also destroyed the railway station in the city of Kherson and near the capital Kiev.

Russia is constantly targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure; There was a major air attack on energy facilities on April 27 and another a week earlier.

In a social media post, Zelenskiy noted that Wednesday’s attacks took place on the day Ukraine celebrates the end of World War II and European countries celebrate victory.

“A massive missile attack by Nazi Putin on Memorial Day and victory over Nazism in World War II; The whole world must clearly understand who he is; the whole world has no right to give Nazism another chance,” Zelensky said.

National grid operator Ukrenergo said the facilities were bombed in the Vinnytsa, Zaporizhzhia, Kirovohrad, Poltava and Ivano-Frankivsk regions.

Two power facilities were bombed in the Lviv region, which is far from the front lines of the fighting, according to regional governor Maxim Kozytsky.
