Kadyrov vows revenge after a Ukrainian drone attack targeted a military training facility in Chechnya
Chechen Republic President Ramzan Kadyrov vowed revenge on Tuesday after a drone attack caused a fire at a military training academy in his region in southern Russia.
This incident is the first attack of its kind targeting Chechen territory since the outbreak of the war.
“They have bitten us, and we will destroy them,” Kadyrov said in video statements published by the Russian news agency RIA Novosti.
“We’ll soon show them a kind of revenge they never dreamed of,” Kadyrov added, vowing a harsh response.
Kadyrov had earlier posted on his Telegram channel that the attack had caused a fire in the roof of a building he described as the Special Forces University in the city of Gudermes.
He confirmed that the building was empty at the time of the attack, and that there were no casualties.
Ramzan Kadyrov is known for his strong support for the Russian war in Ukraine, as Chechen forces under his command participated in several operations on the Ukrainian front.
These forces were distinguished by their special capabilities and high equipment, which made them among the effective units in the field.
The drone attack comes in the context of repeated strikes by Ukraine against Russian positions, especially using drones, however, there was no immediate comment from Kiev on the incident.
