Jerusalem Post: Biden committed a political assassination of himself with his decision on aid to Israel
The Jerusalem Post said in an article that Biden committed a political assassination of himself with his decision on aid to Israel.
The article deals with US President Joe Biden’s decision to suspend the sending of some weapons and equipment to Israel, so as not to launch the expected attack on the Palestinian city of Rafah.
The author compares this decision to similar previous US threats.
“Yes, in a narrow military sense, the consequences of this suspension are negligible,” he wrote.
“The Gaza war is not about the quantities of bombs or any other equipment. Besides, Israel has its own military industry that can produce bombs of almost any kind”.
“So the strategic problem is not about the impact of this reckless move on Israeli fighting, but about the message it sends across the Middle East”.
“Biden’s move not only makes him look untrustworthy, but also makes him vulnerable; His obstruction of the Israeli war is being analyzed in Tehran, Baghdad, Sana’a and everywhere else, where jihadists have planned the kinds of attacks, they have launched in recent decades on six continents.
The repercussions of Biden’s decision, which in his view are in the interest of Washington’s two rivals – Russia and China – as Russia will tighten the noose on Ukraine, while China will exert more pressure on its neighbors.
But even more serious are the repercussions of that decision on Biden himself.
“Joe Biden arrived at this war with a clear vision: Hamas is barbaric, and it must be crushed; It was a call for justice and American interest, but then he listened to the mob, and instead of shouting the truth: American-made bombs are killing Gazans not because of America and not because of Israel, but because Hamas is fighting behind its children, women and elderly, he succumbed to the mob”.
“Yes, a leader is supposed to listen to all the voices that come from behind him, but he is not supposed to obey them; He is supposed to obey his conscience and overcome what his conscience doesn’t like, otherwise people will abandon him, not because they will think they are right, not because they will think he is wrong, but because they will think that he isn’t a leader”.
