Israel has revealed Iranian attempts to recruit Israelis for espionage, prompting the Shin Bet to communicate directly with residents of the city of Bat Yam, south of Tel Aviv, through Mayor Zvika Brut.

According to the report, “Recently, we have been contacting the Shin Bet about the possibility that our residents may have fallen into the trap of the Iranian intelligence network and cooperating with them because of all the messages they send to our phones”.
“We’ve heard of committed people, even reservists, outstanding students and retirees, who thought they would easily make money, and maybe they were doing things they thought wouldn’t do any harm”.
