Israeli retired general: What is happening in Gaza is a guerrilla war and Israel’s leaders are tyrants
A retired general in the Israeli army, Yitzhak Brik, presented a bleak picture of the situation inside the Israeli army, pointing out that what is happening is a collapse in front of Hamas due to the guerrilla war inside the Gaza Strip, which aims to keep Netanyahu, Galant and Halevy in power.
In his article in Maariv newspaper, Brik said that Israeli forces find themselves repeatedly reattacking the same locations in Gaza due to the lack of sufficient forces to stay there for a long time, costing them heavy loss of life.
He pointed out that this war is similar to trench warfare in World War I, where Israeli soldiers face Hamas fire in unequal battles, as Hamas uses guerrilla warfare, blowing up buildings, and disappearing into tunnels, causing heavy losses to the Israeli army.
Brick harshly criticized Israel’s military leadership, calling it dictators who control others with an iron hand and issue orders that cause the blood of soldiers to be shed in vain.
Repeated attacks are conducted without operational discipline or basic procedures, leaving soldiers facing death from booby traps and explosives, he said.
This deadly routine is repeated without any progress in the war, he said, arguing that the continued fighting under Netanyahu, Galant and Halevy is only for their personal benefit, and that they are trying to stay in power at all costs, even if it leads to the destruction of the country.
Brick quoted the words of Professor Yitzhak Adages, a global expert in management and organizational behavior, who referred to the phenomenon of fire flares, leaders who prefer to destroy what they have built rather than lose control.
Adages likened the position of these leaders to that of Hitler at the end of World War II when he ordered the destruction of Germany after losing the war.
Brick concluded his article by calling for the removal of the current leadership and the formation of a new team that accepts the deal proposed by US President Joe Biden: cessation of hostilities, the release of abductees, the reconstruction of the Israeli army, and the improvement of the economy and international relations of Israel.
