Israeli media: The Israeli army was preparing to carry out a large-scale military operation in Jenin… however the Chief of Staff canceled it at the last moment

The Israeli Chief of Staff, Aviv Kochavi, canceled a massive campaign of arrests that was scheduled to target the Palestinian city of Jenin.

According to the Israeli media: “The arrest campaign was approved several months ago, and it was decided to implement it in light of the detention of the body of the young Druze in Jenin camp last week”.

A meeting was scheduled to be held for the leaders of the occupation army to take a decision to start implementing the campaign, noting that Kochavi decided last Thursday to cancel the meeting, which led to the cancellation of the implementation of the arrest campaign.

Kochavi canceled the plan more than 13 hours after the body of the Druze youth was detained, after the negotiations that were taking place had an opportunity, especially in light of the efforts of the Palestinian Authority, and therefore he considered that this wasn’t the right time to start the campaign.

The Israeli media stated that the massive arresting campaign in Jenin is still on the table and will be implemented at the appropriate time.
