Israeli media: Secret documents reveal details for the first time about Hamas’ plan to attack the 7th of October
Israeli media revealed what it called it “secret documents by Hamas leaders that reached the Israeli security service regarding summaries of the limited discussions launched by Hamas before the October 7 attack.
According to the Israeli media, Hamas’s leader in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar, the commander-in-chief of the al Qassam Brigades in Gaza, Muhammad Deif, and his deputy, Marwan Issa, participated in the discussions.
According to the Israeli N12 channel, “Marwan Issa’s documents that were seized in Gaza indicate that Issa was the military commander of the attack and the maker of the operational plan, which he signed in the documents under the nickname “Abu al Bara’a”.
The documents also reveal how the decision was made before the bloody attack and also about “His timing”.
The Israeli media reported that “Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon allowed Hamas to build a joint axis for attack, a plan that did not come into effect, and included 46 targets, including towns and military bases to which Hamas militants would infiltrate, including between 1,500 and 1,800 elite fighters in”.
Hamas planned to infiltrate Israeli territory and actually did so.
The report added that the terms of the plan that were found also included two targets for the attack, namely the Unit 8200 base and the Israeli Air Force base in Hatzerim, while the militants didn’t reach these two bases due to the defensive response of the Israeli army and police.
In an attempt to surprise Israel, “the Hamas leadership kept this bloody attack plan secret for a long period”.
Five days before the attack, Hamas combat brigade commanders were briefed on it, 48 hours before October 7, battalion commanders were briefed, 12 hours before the plan was implemented, company commanders were briefed, and only on the same night were the elite fighters themselves informed,” according to the report.
It was noted that “On the same night, information and intelligence indicators about the matter reached the Israeli army intelligence department, which officials in the Israeli security apparatus didn’t seem to take seriously, so Hamas implemented a large part of its plan”.
The report also touched on increasing indications about the death of Hamas leader Marwan Issa, but according to security officials, information that confirms that the assassination actually occurred hasn’t yet been obtained.
The report stated that Hamas tried to rescue Issa from the area where the attack was carried out.
The commander of the 98th Division in the Israeli army said earlier, “We bow our heads at our resounding failure in the attack launched by Hamas on October 7, 2023.
Last Tuesday, the head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Naryshkin, described the storming of the Gaza Strip settlements on October 7, 2023 by Hamas fighters as an absolute failure for Israeli intelligence.
