Israeli Defense Minister: The situation in the north will change with a political settlement or a large-scale military operation
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant said Wednesday evening that the situation in the north at the Lebanese border will change with a political settlement or a broad military operation.
This came at the end of an assessment of the situation conducted by Galant at the headquarters of the Northern Command in the city of Safed in the Upper Galilee, near the border with Lebanon, according to a post on his account on X and the Israeli media.
“At the end of the assessment of the situation in Northern Command, I said with Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi, Northern Command Commander (Uri Gordin) and Air Force Commander (Tomer Barr) that IDF forces are ready and continue to be prepared against every threat that comes to us, whether in defense or attack,” Gallant wrote.
“The situation in the north will change with a political settlement or a large-scale military operation, and we have a duty to return citizens safely to their homes,” he said.
According to the private Channel 12, since the beginning of the war, some 120,000 Israelis have been evacuated from the north and south (the area adjacent to Gaza) to hotels across Israel.
The same channel quoted Gallant as saying, “We’re completing ground and air readiness, strengthening the intelligence services, and preparing for any eventuality”.
“We’ve to remember the basic situation, that Hezbollah started the war against us on Oct 8, one day after Hamas, and since then it hasn’t stopped it”.
