The Israeli Channel 12 reported that Israel rejected a request by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to establish a coordination mechanism with the Israeli army in Syria, similar to one between Russia and Israel.

The channel said that Erdogan contacted Israel through his diplomatic channels, asking the Israeli army and security services to coordinate with Türkiye in its activities in Syria, but Israel decided not to respond to this request at the present time.

Later, channel 12 reported that Turkish officials sent messages to Tel Aviv looking forward to establishing a mechanism similar to the one that existed between Russia and Israel in Syria.

The Israeli channel explained that this request comes in the context of Türkiye’s desire to expand its activities inside Syrian territory.

On the other hand, channel 12 indicated that Israel’s policy towards Syria is to prevent any military reinforcement after the collapse of the Syrian regime, and that there was a recent dialogue between the United States and the leader of the Syrian administration, Ahmed al Sharaa, to understand the shape of the future Syria.

The Israeli channel confirmed that Israel is closely monitoring Turkish and Qatari activities in Syria, especially with the flow of money and weapons into the country, indicating Israel’s desire for the United States to manage the Syrian issue.
