Israel harshly criticize US special envoy for Syria Tom Barrack after recent remarks accuses him of defending Turkish interests
The Israeli government has accused the US ambassador to Ankara and US special envoy for Syria, Tom Barrack, of defending Turkish interests.
On Tuesday, the Israeli Wala website quoted a senior Israeli official as saying that Israel is very concerned about Tom Barrack’s statements.
“Barrack is acting as if he is Türkiye’s ambassador, and he is negatively influencing what is happening in the Middle East,” the Israeli official said.
He added that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu considers Barrack “an element that acts hostilely towards Israel,” noting that he is “excessively influenced by Turkish interests in Syria and acts as an ambassador who serves Ankara’s interests”.
The report cited Tom Barrack’s remarks made a few days ago in the Qatari capital Doha, where he said, “Israel may claim to be a democratic country, but what actually works best in this region is a charitable monarchy”.
The report noted that Israel is investing in its supporters within US President Donald Trump’s inner circle, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the US representative to the United Nations, Mike Walz.
