Israel Broadcasting Corporation: Preparing a plan for a complete withdrawal from the Gaza Strip for a period of 6 weeks
Defense Minister Yoav Galant met with the heads of the security services to develop a clear position whereby the Israeli army will be able to withdraw from the Gaza Strip completely, including the northern Gaza Strip and the Philadelphia axis, for a period of 6 weeks as part of the hostage-exchange deal for Palestinian prisoners, the Israel Broadcasting Corporation said.
The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported that Galant met with the chiefs of general staff, the Mossad and the Shin Bet, and the four explained that this is a short period of time, which won’t enable Hamas to rehabilitate tangibly, neither in terms of new weapons nor in rebuilding the tunnels.
According to the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation, the decision is now in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s hands, while the Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich criticized the decision, as he commented, “The heads of the security services are leading us again to the same concept”.
Smotrich recalled, “the security apparatus pledged in the past that Hamas had been deterred, and that the Oslo agreement and separation from the Gaza Strip would bring security”.
Meanwhile IDF vehicles block the entrance to the West Bank city of Qalqilya after an Israeli civilian was shot dead on last Monday.
