Israel: A lack the resources necessary to treat all soldiers with psychological trauma
The representative of the rehabilitation of Israeli soldiers said in the Knesset session, Tuesday, that Israel lacks the resources necessary to treat all those suffering from psychological trauma.
Limor Luria stated, in her speech in the Knesset, that since the outbreak of the war, her ministry has dealt with 2,816 injured soldiers, about 18% of whom suffer from mental health problems, especially post-traumatic stress disorder.
“If we don’t get additional resources, we won’t be able to care for everyone,” she said.
Loria added that the ministry of defense hadn’t allocated a psychological unit to treat soldiers suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.
“We expect that about 10,000 soldiers will suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder upon their return,” said Idan Kleiman, head of the IDF Veterans Organization.
