Baghdadi was killed in a military operation carried out by US special forces at dawn on Sunday (October 27th), and US President Donald Trump confirmed the death of the leader of “IS”, in an attack he considered “bold”.
“Last night, the United States brought the world’s number one terrorist to justice.
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was killed”, Trump said in a speech on Sunday.
Trump noted that US special forces carried out the operation with the participation of “8 helicopters and a large group of military personnel, saying that the leader of” IS “committed suicide while trying to escape in a tunnel under the location of his hideout, where he blew himself up and three of his children with an explosive belt.
The Reuters news agency, citing a US official source, said that the US authorities disposed of the remains of the body of the leader of the organization “IS” Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi, by throwing it at sea.
The source, who asked not to be named, said Baghdadi’s burial at sea came “according to Islamic religious rituals” in an unnamed place.
The remains of Baghdadi’s body were transferred to the US air base in Iraq after he was killed in a special security operation in the Syrian countryside of Idlib.
