Iranian Defense Minister Threatens Israel: We’ll use advanced and more powerful missiles if Israel launches new attacks against us!
Iran confirmed on Wednesday that it is prepared for any new Israeli attack, announcing that it has developed missiles with greater capabilities than those used in the last 12-day war waged by Israel.
Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh said, according to the Iranian official IRNA news agency, that the missiles used in the 12-day war were manufactured by the Ministry of Defense years ago.
He added, “Today, we have manufactured and possess missiles with greater capabilities than previous missiles, and if the Zionist enemy embarks on another adventure, we will certainly use these missiles”.
Israel began bombing Iran in mid-June, sparking a war in which Iran responded with missile and drone strikes.
The Israeli attack killed senior military leaders, nuclear scientists, and hundreds of others, as both military sites and residential areas were targeted.
The United States also carried out strikes targeting Iranian nuclear sites.
The ceasefire between Iran and Israel has been in effect since June 24.
Iranian officials have since warned of the possibility of renewed fighting at any moment, stressing that Tehran does not seek war but is prepared for any confrontation.
On Monday, Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref stressed that Iran must be prepared for confrontation at any moment.
“We’re not in a ceasefire, we are in a cessation of hostilities,” he added.
Iranian media reported that the army will begin two-day military exercises on Thursday, during which a wide range of short- and medium-range cruise missiles will be used.
Western governments have repeatedly expressed concern about Iran’s missile program, describing it as a threat to regional security.
In July, France called for a “comprehensive agreement” with Tehran that would cover not only its nuclear program but also its missile program and regional ambitions.
Iran, for its part, stressed that its military capabilities weren’t up for discussion.
