The Iranian Tasnim news agency quoted an interview with a parliament member that Iran will receive a number of Russian Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets, by next March, as part of a military request that includes defense systems, missiles and helicopters.

Shahryar Heydari, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee in the Islamic Republic’s parliament, didn’t specify the number of fighter jets required.

“Most of these weapons will soon arrive to the country,” Heydari added.

Heydari said, “For example, the Su-35 fighter jets will arrive in Iran early next year,” as he’s referring to the beginning of the Persian calendar on March 21, 2023.

The Islamic republic of Iran has developed closer relations with Russia since the Russian military operation in Ukraine, and provided Moscow with military drones, which led to the imposition of stricter sanctions and strong condemnation by the United States and the European Union.
