Iran: We didn’t start the war… America and Israel failed to force us to surrender or abandon our nuclear program completely
Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Iravani, confirmed that Israel and the United States have failed to achieve their goal of forcing Iran to surrender unconditionally and completely abandon its nuclear program.
This came during a session of the UN Security Council on Tuesday regarding the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
Iravani noted that Israel is trying to justify its attacks on Iran by claiming that its peaceful nuclear program poses an imminent threat.
He said, “These allegations have no legal or factual basis… Israel is the only country in the region that hasn’t declared its possession of nuclear weapons, isn’t a party to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, and evades International Atomic Energy Agency inspections”.
He added, “In contrast, as a party to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, Iran’s nuclear program is subject to the most stringent inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency”.
He stressed that Iran remains committed to diplomacy and peaceful solutions despite this aggression and the unconstructive stance of European countries.
He added, “Iran didn’t start this war, and when the aggressors halted their attacks, Iran ended its legitimate military response… However, Iran won’t turn a blind eye to false promises and double standards”.
He added, “Our armed forces are ready to respond to any new threats or violations, and today, we are closer to diplomacy than ever before”.
