Iran: President Raisi and the Foreign Minister with others killed at the helicopter crash
Iranian state television has confirmed the deaths of President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian in a helicopter crash.
An Iranian official said on Monday morning that the Iranian president and foreign minister died in the crash of their helicopter as it crossed a mountainous area amid thick fog.

Iranian media on Monday morning mourned President Ebrahim Raisi the day after the helicopter he was on was involved in an accident in the northwest of the country, without an official announcement so far.
Iranian authorities announced at dawn on Monday that the helicopter carrying President Ebrahim Raisi and other officials had been found hours after it suffered an accident in a rugged mountainous area in the northwest of the country, stressing that no sign of life was detected in the wreckage.
Iranian state television said, “When the helicopter was found, there was no sign that the passengers of the helicopter were alive so far”.
Earlier, television reported that a Turkish drone had detected the coordinates of the accident and informed Iranian rescue teams about it.
The head of the Iranian Red Crescent, Pirshossein Kolevand, said that the bodies of everyone on board President Ebrahim Raisi’s helicopter had been found.
The head of the Iranian Red Crescent said bodies were being transported to the northwestern city of Tabriz in Iran’s Azerbaijan province.
According to the Iranian Tasnim news agency, all those on board were killed, namely Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, Ayatollah Hashim Imam of Tabriz, Malik Rahmati Governor of East Azerbaijan provence, Sardar Seyed Mehdi Mousavi, head of the Iranian President’s Protection Unit, a force from the Ansar al Mahdi Corps, a pilot, a co-pilot, and a technical official among the passengers on this flight.
