Iran started a massive missiles and drones attack against Israel, in response to Israel’s assassination of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh and Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, according to a statement from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

“Iran fired at least 102 rockets, and sirens are sounding throughout the country,” Israel’s Army Radio said.

The Israeli army called on residents of the southern and central regions to enter shelters immediately.

The skies of several Israeli cities and regions are filled with Iranian missiles, as Israeli defenses attempt to confront the massive attacks.

The Israeli army announced that Iran had launched missiles that reached Jerusalem, where air raid sirens sounded in the city and its surroundings, shortly after a US warning to Israel that Iran was preparing to launch a missile attack.

Sirens sounded in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, while the Israeli Foreign Ministry said sirens were sounding throughout Israel.

Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari said a short while ago that Washington informed them, Tuesday, that it was monitoring preparations by Iran to launch missiles towards Israel soon, warning that any Iranian attack would have “dire consequences”.

The New York Times reported, citing Israeli officials, that the Iranian attack would include drones and ballistic missiles launched towards Israel.

The Wall Street Journal also quoted a Pentagon official as saying, “We’ve observed over the past day increased readiness and the transfer of missile launchers by Iran”.

NBC quoted White House and Pentagon officials as expecting “Iran to attack military and government sites in Israel, not civilian sites”.

Israeli officials confirmed that the potential attack would be followed by ballistic missile strikes on three military air bases and an intelligence headquarters north of Tel Aviv, within 12 hours.

“We’ll deal with any air threat from Iran as we have done before and we are highly prepared… We’ve dealt with threats from Iran in the past and we will deal with them at this stage as well,” Hagari added.

But he pointed out that Israel didn’t detect any air threat launched towards Israel from Iran.

On the other hand, news has emerged of an attack by Palestinian gunmen in Jaffa, which has so far resulted, according to Israeli authorities, in the killing of eight people, in addition to a number of wounded.

Meanwhile, news has emerged of an armed operation inside a hotel in the city of Herzliya, without further information at the present time.
