Hay’at Tahrir al Sham leader Abu Muhammad al Julani was poisoned
According to reports from Idlib, in norther Syria, which is under the control of Hay’at Tahrir al Sham (Formerly known as al Nusra Front) its leader, Abu Muhammad al Julani, was subjected to an attempted poisoning during a tour of Idlib 10 days ago.
Al Julani suffered from health problems, and the issue was kept secret, after it was found that there was a toxic substance that was injected into a drink he took during his tour.
Al Julani remained bedridden and under surveillance, as a result of some side effects due to his ingestion of the toxic substance.
Security apparatus in Hay’at Tahrir al Sham began extensive investigations with the owners of the sites, which he visited during the poisoning attempt, noting that the accusations hover around a leader in the Al Ahrar Army, visited by al Julani at his home to urge his faction not to participate in the movement against him.
Demonstrations against Hay’at Tahrir al Sham and its leader al Julani continue in the areas of Idlib, its countryside and the western countryside of Aleppo, demanding the overthrow of the leader of Hay’at Tahrir al Sham, amid attempts by HTS checkpoints to prevent demonstrations.
In February, al Julani began a campaign of arrests of hundreds of HTS leaders on charges of preparing a coup against him, which led to demonstrations in the areas he controls in Idlib, where HTS security forces confronted demonstrators with repression, arrest and assassination.
