Harris harshly criticize Trump by accusing him of disrespect the military cemetery
US Vice President, and the current democratic candidate for the US presidential elections, Kamala Harris, accused on Saturday, Donald Trump, her opponent in the November presidential election, of disrespecting sacred ground at Arlington National Military Cemetery, which the Republican candidate visited on Monday.
“Donald Trump chose to film a video there, which led to a fight with cemetery workers,” the Democratic candidate wrote on X, “Let’s be clear: The former president disrespected sacred ground all for political gain”.
The former president visited Arlington National Cemetery near Washington on Monday to participate in a ceremony honoring the 13 soldiers killed during the US withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021.
Arlington Cemetery announced Wednesday that a fight broke out during the visit between Donald Trump’s team, who were seeking to take photos of the tribute, and cemetery workers.
The Republican candidate’s circles, who continue to criticize the Democratic camp over the chaotic US withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021, responded by publishing a statement confirming that the soldiers’ families had already agreed to the presence of photographers.
For its part, the US Army confirmed on Thursday that an employee in Arlington was suddenly pushed during Trump’s visit while trying to enforce a federal law prohibiting any political activity inside the cemetery.
“This was an unfortunate incident,” a US Army spokesman said in a statement.
“It’s also unfortunate that the employee’s integrity and professionalism were unfairly questioned,” the statement added.
Kamala Harris criticized Trump’s stance on Saturday, saying the cemetery wasn’t a place to do politics.
“If there is one thing we as Americans can agree on, it’s that veterans, military families and service members should be honored, not diminished, and treated with the utmost respect and gratitude,” she wrote.
“I am convinced that someone who is unable to fulfill this simple and sacred duty should never be president of the United States,” she added.
