The Israeli Haaretz newspaper considered that October 7 attack, caused a series of unexpected successive events.

Haaretz said, “It seems that what the late Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar did caused a series of events that are now changing the face of the Middle East,” adding, “the attack led by the Hamas leader in Gaza, on October 7 of last year, on the Gaza envelope area, caused a series of additional earthquakes events that were difficult to predict in advance”.

The Israeli intelligence community was surprised by the events taking place in Syria, as it has been paying full attention to the Gaza and Lebanese fronts since October 7.

Haaretz pointed out that Israeli military intelligence reports recently spoke of a trend towards recovery in the ranks of the Syrian army.

Even after the terrorist groups entered Aleppo, officers expected little chance for the rebellion to succeed.

Haaretz points out that Israeli intelligence wasn’t the only one who made a mistake in this regard, as no intelligence agency in the region or the West has been reported to have predicted these events in Syria.

According to Haaretz newspaper, despite all of the above, the prediction of former Defense Minister Ehud Barak in this regard has come true, albeit more than a decade later.

Earlier, the Israeli Army Radio announced that traffic in the Golan Heights would be restricted and that all agricultural lands adjacent to the border strip with Syria would be considered closed military areas, and that farmers wouldn’t be allowed to enter them.
