The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, confirmed that the Coronavirus pandemic that struck the world in 2020 will not be the last, indicating that this is a reality.
The World Health Organization confirmed that the new strain of Coronavirus that causes the “Covid-19” infection has been monitored in 8 countries in Europe, calling for the tightening of the necessary preventive measures.
The Director of the Organization’s European Office, Hans Kluge, said, via Twitter, on Friday: “8 countries in the area of responsibility of the European Office of the World Health Organization have detected the new Covid-19 strain VOC-20 2012/01.
Tightening current protection measures is vitally important, including social distancing, wearing masks and staying within bubbles of basic support (allowing a circle of friends during restrictive measures and avoiding social isolation).
Kluge added that “the World Health Organization continues to monitor and will provide subsequent updates,” stressing that “solidarity is the key”.
The official stated that “it seems that this copy, unlike previous strains, is spreading among the younger age groups,” stressing that “vigilance is important during the continuation of the analysis to determine the extent of its impact”.
The British Minister of Health, Matt Hancock, announced, on December 14, that his country’s scientists had discovered a new strain of Coronavirus called “B. 1.1.7 While Prime Minister Boris Johnson said, on the 19th of this month, that it may be more contagious by 70% according to preliminary data, but he pointed out that there is no data indicating that this strain is more deadly.
This development led to the announcement of a number of countries in the world, including Russia, to suspend flights with the United Kingdom.
