Germany to provide 300 million Euros to as EU official says that the EU must move forward in lifting sanctions on Syria

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas called for moving forward with lifting sanctions imposed on Syria since the era of the ousted Assad regime.

This came in a statement to reporters ahead of a meeting of European Union foreign ministers in the Belgian capital, Brussels, on Monday.

In this context, Kallas said, “The European Union must provide more support to Syria, in cooperation with regional partners… We’re working to strengthen efforts to lift sanctions,” as she noted that the EU foreign ministers’ meeting will discuss the latest developments in Syria and the violence that occurred on March 6 on the Syrian coast.

In this context, the European official expressed her deep concern over the violent incidents taking place on the Syrian coast between security forces and remnants of Assad’s regime collapsed.

On the other hand, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock announced on Monday that her country will provide 300 million Euros to Syrians through the United Nations and other organizations, emphasizing Europe’s support for Syrians and Free Syria.

This came in press statements she made prior to a meeting of European Union foreign ministers in Brussels.

She added that they anticipate a comprehensive process in Syria that includes everyone, and that her country will provide 300 million Euros to Syrians through the United Nations and various organizations.

Baerbock stressed that a peaceful future for Syria would only be possible through a comprehensive political process.
