Ahead of President Joe Biden’s farewell, the United States announced a new package of military aid to Ukraine, which is facing Russian aggression, worth $500 million (486 million Euros).

This was announced by US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin during a meeting of the Ukraine Contact Group at the US base in Ramstein in the Rhineland-Palatinate region.

During the meeting, Austin bid farewell to his colleagues, having supervised the coordination of the Ramstein format since April 2022.

“Thank you for your exceptional leadership over the past years,” the German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said.

He added that it’s everyone’s responsibility now to maintain this Rammstein formula.

Pistorius, for his part, announced that Germany will support Ukraine in the near term with additional guided missiles for the T-type air defense systems.

He added that these missiles were originally for the German army, but after production they will be transferred directly to Ukraine.

Pistorius stressed that Ukraine can count on Germany, regardless of the results of the German parliamentary elections on February 23.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also came to Ramstein to take part in a meeting of 50 countries supporting Ukraine.

He called on partners to support his country in the production of drones.
