Germany: The number of ATM’s explosion cases are continuing to rise
According to German News Agency, the number of ATM’s explosion cases continues at a high level.
While many crime control offices reported a slight decline in the number of these cases, other states announced an increase.
It’s noteworthy that the number of cases announced so far exceeds 470 attacks, and since investigators in the states specify different dates for preparing reports on these numbers, it’s not yet possible to say whether the number of cases of ATMs explosion in the current year has reached the level of last year.
According to the German police, cases of ATM’s explosions in Germany in 2022 set a new record of 496 cases.
For its part, the investigation authorities in the state of Lower Saxony announced a noticeable decline in the number of these cases this year compared to previous years, noting that the number of these cases had reached 36 attacks as of the beginning of this December, compared to 68 crimes recorded in total last year.
The Bavarian Crime Bureau recorded 21 cases of explosions of cash machines until shortly before the end of this year, compared to 37 cases last year.
The Crime Control Office in the state of Saxony also announced a slight decline in the number of these cases, as well as the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
On the other hand, the state of Schleswig-Holstein announced a slight increase in the number of these cases.
The state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern announced that the number of these cases had reached five cases as of the fifth of this month, compared to not recording any crime of this type in 2022, and recording five cases in 2021.
The state of Baden-Württemberg announced that the number of these cases had reached no less than 40 cases, compared to 34 cases in 2022, and the state of Hesse also announced a record number of these crimes, with 60 crimes.
According to the General Association of German Insurance Companies, the amount of material damage resulting from these crimes amounted to more than 110 million Euros, noting that the material damage that occurs to machinery and buildings is often more serious than the damage resulting from the theft of money.
The number of ATM in Germany is about 55 thousand.
