Germany: Former Mossad agents implicated in New Year’s Eve child kidnapping case
The Hamburg Regional Court in Germany has begun the trial of a German businesswoman who owns the Block House restaurant chain, along with three Israelis, including a former Mossad agent, on charges of kidnapping two children as part of a family custody dispute.
According to the indictment, the German woman enlisted the help of three Israelis—including Tal Shashon, Dov Ram Barkai, and Karin Tanenbaum—to carry out a kidnapping operation in the border area between Germany and Denmark on New Year’s Eve 2023.
The two children, aged 10 and 13, were gagged and threatened with death if they screamed.
Investigations revealed that the operation was carried out by a private intelligence company called Cyber Cupula Operations GmbH.
Danish police later found the two children and returned them to their father.
Reports also revealed the involvement of August Hanning, the former head of the German foreign intelligence service, in coordinating the relationship between the accused woman and the Israeli intelligence company.
The court will hear approximately 140 eyewitnesses over 40 sessions, and if convicted, the defendants could face up to 10 years in prison.
