Germany extend prohibiting transfer Syrians to their country for six months

Germany extends the prohibition on deporting Syrians to their country for another six months, as agreed by the interior ministers of the German states today at the end of their meeting in the northern city of Luebeck.

This extension takes place until the end of June 2020.

At the end of their regular meeting, German interior ministers and Federal Interior Minister Horst Seehofer decided to extend the ban on deportation of Syrians whose asylum applications or convictions have been rejected by Germany’s courts for another six months to expire at the end of June 2020.

The Ministers intend to implement the resolution in the future without specifying a date.

“The decision remains in effect without any exceptions until the end of June 2020, and no person or group of people is excluded”, said Boris Pistorius, interior minister of Lower Saxony and spokesperson for state interior ministers ruled by the Social Democratic Party.

Lower Saxony Interior Minister Boris Pistorius has questioned the possibility of creating conditions for the deportation of Syrians to their country, where the civil war is still going on in some parts, according to the German Foreign Ministry’s assessment of Syria.

In addition, Federal Minister of the Interior Horst Seehofer said, “Today we don’t promise to deport the Syrians to their country after June 30, 2020, but we promise to carry out consultations in this regard within the federal government under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Interior, which will be accurate and balanced”.

If we make a deportation decision, this will be subject to a court case before the decision is implemented.
