Germany: Arms sales to Israel worth more than 130 million Euros
The German government has so far approved at least 131 million Euros ($137 million) worth of arms exports to Israel this year, according to information recently released by the Economy Ministry in Berlin.
The German ministry of Economy said in response to a parliamentary question from a lawmaker from the left-wing populist coalition of Sarah Wagenknecht (PSW).
The German government hasn’t approved any exports of military weapons since the beginning of March.
According to the latest figures, the German government authorized the delivery of weapons to Israel worth 23.6 million Euros between October 18 and November 19.
According to the German ministry of Economy, “the entire value of this amount is represented by other military equipment”.
As of October 17, the German government had authorized arms deliveries to Israel worth at least 107.5 million Euros, according to previous answers to parliamentary questions.
This brings the total since the beginning of the year to 1,131 million Euros.
The German government last issued licenses for the export of war weapons to Israel in February.
Arms deliveries to Israel have been a subject of controversy in Germany for months.
Last year, the government approved the delivery of weapons to Israel worth 5.326 million Euros, including 1.20 million Euros worth of war weapons.
