German Chancellor congratulated Ahmed al Sharaa for Syrian presidency in a phone call… assuring Germany’s support for rebuilding Syria
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz pledged to Syrian interim President Ahmed al Sharaa during a phone call that lasted about an hour on Friday that his country would support a “free and safe Syria for all its people,” the German Chancellery announced.
Chancellery spokesman Steffen Hebsterit said in a statement that Scholz and al Sharaa agreed that its now necessary to launch a political process that includes all Syrians, regardless of their ethnic or religious affiliations.
Scholz congratulated the Syrian people on their success in ending the reign of terror imposed by the Assad regime.
This is the first official contact between the two leaders since the appointment of Ahmed al Sharaa last week as interim president in Syria.
The German chancellor assured the new Syrian president that Germany is ready to support the reconstruction of Syria, so that it becomes a free and safe homeland for all its inhabitants, according to a statement from the German chancellery.
