On Friday, the French Islamic Council called on authorities to open an investigation into allegations that two people collected information about Muslims in France and passed it on to Israel’s intelligence service.

In a statement, the council referred to allegations of an investigation against Muslims in France, at the request of the Council of Representatives of Jewish Institutions in France.

According to allegations, political, administrative and security bodies in France provided information in this regard to two individuals, one of whom was an Israeli, and then it was sent to the intelligence services of a foreign country.

These allegations appeared in a clip circulating on social media, in which the French writer Didier Long states that since 2023, research has been underway for the benefit of the Council of Representatives of Jewish Institutions in France, and various Jewish institutions in the country, in cooperation with Dov Maimon, who serves as an advisor to the Israeli government.

Long said he had met with a number of people, including officials from France’s domestic intelligence and military intelligence directorate, and that the information he had gathered had been reported to Israeli intelligence services.

According to the French Council of the Islamic Religion, Long and Maimoun consider Muslims in France a threat to Jews living in the country.

The council called on the competent authorities, especially the Ministry of Interior, to open an official investigation into these allegations.

He also announced that he would file a complaint with the National Information and Freedoms Commission regarding the data collected and used.
