The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced on Tuesday evening the imposition of a curfew in the city of Latakia, following riots in some neighborhoods of the city that led to human and material losses.

According to a statement issued by the Internal Security Command, the curfew will start from 05:00 pm on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 and will continue until 06:00 on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.

The statement stressed that the decision doesn’t include emergency cases, medical staff, or ambulance and fire teams, calling on citizens to fully abide by the instructions under the threat of legal accountability.

Latakia witnessed riots on Monday evening that resulted in the death of one person and the injury of about 13 others, in addition to extensive damage to public and private property.

However, on Tuesday morning, calm prevailed in most of the city’s neighborhoods, as security forces have been heavily deployed in the city, with army reinforcements arriving from nearby barracks, with the aim of preventing any new encroachments and enforcing stability.

He explained that the measures included the closure of a number of main roads as part of the security measures taken.
