Fidan asked his Iranian counterpart to meet face to face and Türkiye hints at documents on who’s behind the recent Syrian opposition forces attack
The clarifications that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi received in his first communication with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan included Türkiye’s readiness to provide Iran and Russia with documents, circumstances and videos proving that the surprise attack carried out in Aleppo, Hama and Homs by forces affiliated with the Syrian opposition in various formations was launched from a single operations room supported by an US intelligence cell.
The nature of the facts that the Turkish Foreign Ministry is talking about hasn’t been revealed.
However, a Turkish diplomatic source reported that Minister Fidan asked his Iranian counterpart Araghchi to discuss the matter face to face in Ankara and attend important meetings with the aim of revealing the facts.
Türkiye has been trying over the past two days to confirm its commitment to the Astana understandings, and Minister Hakan, in a public statement on Saturday afternoon, categorically denied any connection between the Syrian opposition attack and his country, near or far.
In side talks with the Iranians, Turkish sources described the raids carried out by Hay’at Tahrir al Sham forces as primarily aimed at controlling three prisons and detention centers to release hundreds of “terrorists,” while the Turkish minister stated that his country cannot agree to the transformation of the terrorist structure in Syria into a state”.
