Erdogan: Turkey has discovered 135 billion cubic meters of gas in the Black Sea

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday that Turkey had discovered a new amount of natural gas amounting to 135 billion cubic meters in the southern Black Sea, bringing the total discovered in the region to 540 billion cubic meters.

Last year, the Turkish drill ship Fatih discovered 405 billion cubic meters of natural gas in the Sakarya field in the western Black Sea, the largest discovery in the country’s history.

Speaking at an event in the Black Sea province of Zonguldak, Erdogan said the new discovery is located in the Amasra-1 field, adding that he expected more good news from the region.
