Erdogan announces the severing of trade relations with Israel
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that his country cannot remain silent while the Palestinians are subjected to genocide in the Gaza Strip.
Erdogan’s statements came during his speech at the conference of the “Parliamentarians for Jerusalem” Association.
“Anyone who criticizes Israel is accused of anti-Semitism, but we will not yield to this kind of threat,” Erdogan said.
Erdogan added that Türkiye “severed its trade relations with Israel and prevented the export of 54 products to it” in support of the Palestinians who “have been resisting alone for 203 days”.
The Turkish President also directed sharp criticism at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying, “Netanyahu wrote his name as the ‘Butcher of Gaza’ in the history of shame, like his murderer predecessors”.
Erdogan noted that “Israel is gradually eliminating the identity of ancient Jerusalem and increasing harassment against the sanctity of Aqsa Mosque, which represents the first qibla for Muslims”.
He added, “In every corner of al Quds al Sharif there are traces of our heroic ancestors who served the Holy City for 400 years, and no one can erase that”.
He stressed that the “Parliamentarians for Jerusalem” association, with its voice and activities, has come to represent the Palestinian issue on a global level.
Since the start of the Israeli war on Gaza on October 7, Israeli attacks have killed more than 34,000 Palestinians and injured about 77,000 others, most of them women and children.
The war led to a humanitarian catastrophe that put the lives of the residents of the Gaza Strip on the brink of famine.
