Erdoğan affirmed that his upcoming meeting with Trump would contribute to ending wars and conflicts in the region

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed confidence on Friday that his meeting with his US counterpart, Donald Trump, in Washington will contribute to ending wars and conflicts in the region, within the framework of their shared vision for international peace.

Erdogan said, “During the meeting that we will hold at the White House with my esteemed counterpart and friend, President Trump, we will discuss many issues, most notably trade, investment, and the defense industry, with our ally, the United States, with whom we have comprehensive strategic relations”.

He added, “I am confident that the meeting will contribute to ending wars and conflicts in our region, within the framework of our shared vision for international peace, and will further strengthen cooperation between the two countries”.

Earlier on Friday, President Trump announced that he would receive his Turkish counterpart, Erdoğan, at the White House next Thursday.

“I am pleased to welcome Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the White House on September 25,” Trump said in a statement.

He added that the talks will address work on several commercial and military agreements, including a major deal to purchase Boeing aircraft, a significant agreement for F-16 fighter jets, and continued talks on the F-35 fighter program, which we hope will lead to positive results.

Trump added, “We’ve always had a very good relationship with President Erdogan, and I look forward to seeing him on the 25th”.
