The Elysee Palace announced on Thursday, that French President Emmanuel Macron has been infected with Coronavirus.
Bloomberg News reported that the palace statement made clear that Macron will continue to perform his duties.
The Elysee Palace indicated that Macron underwent a Covid-19 examination after symptoms appeared on him, adding that he would be subjected to isolation for a period of seven days.
French media reported that French Prime Minister Jean Castex will be quarantined after his contact with Macron.
So far, Castex has not shown any symptoms, and he underwent a Coronavirus test this morning.
The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, was subjected to health isolation, but his infection with the Coronavirus was negative, according to what Barind Letts, his spokesman, announced after the announcement of the infection of French President Emmanuel Macron with the virus.
Michel had traveled to Paris to attend OECD events, and met Macron at the Elysee Palace last Monday.
Nevertheless, Letts said in a tweet that the French authorities had informed him that “he is no longer in contact with Macron”.
And Michael was tested for the Coronavirus on Tuesday.
“However, out of caution, the president will be subject to self-isolation,” said Letts.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson wrote a tweet in which he said, “I feel sorry to hear the news of my friend Emmanuel Macron being infected with the Coronavirus,” and expressed his trustees for him with a speedy recovery.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his wishes to Macron for a “speedy and full recovery”.
It is noteworthy that since the start of the Coronavirus pandemic, France, which has a population of 67 million, has recorded more than 2.4 million cases of the virus.
