El Confidencial: Spain will inform Israel of its intention to recognize the State of Palestine

Spanish El Confidencial newspaper reported on Wednesday, citing informed sources, that Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, who was re-elected last week will inform Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that his country will soon be ready to recognize the State of Palestine.

El Confidencial newspaper, reported that Sanchez is scheduled to make this announcement during a scheduled trip to Israel next Thursday, where he and his Belgian counterpart, Alexander De Croo, intend to meet with Netanyahu, Israeli President Isaac Herzog, as well as the Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas”.

On Wednesday morning, in an unprecedented vote, the Israeli government approved an agreement to release about 50 Israeli detainees in Gaza and a ceasefire for at least four days.

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued an official statement confirming the government’s decision, taken in the early morning hours of Wednesday, to approve the first deal to release detainees in Gaza.

The Hamas movement said in a statement, “The agreement includes a ceasefire from both parties, a cessation of all military actions by the Israeli occupation army in all areas of the Gaza Strip, and a cessation of the movement of its military vehicles penetrating into the Gaza Strip”.

Hamas statement added, “Hundreds of trucks for humanitarian, relief, medical and fuel aid were brought into all areas of the Gaza Strip, without exception, in the north and south”.
