The Israeli Channel 12 said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prevented Defense Minister Yoav Galant from holding meetings to discuss the issue of the occupation prisoners in Gaza in the presence of Mossad director David Barnea.

Channel 12 added that Netanyahu cannot prevent Gallant from holding internal meetings with Chief of Staff Herzi Halevy and the person in charge of the prisoner issue, Nitzan Alon, but the occupation prime minister refused to have the head of the Mossad participate in those meetings.

According to the channel 12, Gallant invited the head of the Mossad at least twice to attend meetings to discuss the issue of occupation prisoners, but the Minister of Defense’s office received instructions from the Prime Minister’s Office that Netanyahu doesn’t agree to holding such a meeting.

While the office of the Prime Minister said that Netanyahu doesn’t restrict the head of the Mossad and that he can attend these meetings according to his agenda, Netanyahu’s office added that the war cabinet is the one who determines the policy for dealing with the issue of prisoners.

Criticism escalated among former leaders at the highest political and military levels in Israel, and political analysts, of the speech launched by the Netanyahu government regarding the goals of the war on the Gaza Strip, and the issue of prisoners held by the resistance.

The leader of the opposition to the occupation, Yair Lapid, said – in a press conference with the Prime Minister – that Israel is strong enough to pay high prices in the war it’s waging in Gaza, as he put it.

He added that the opposition supports any deal to return detainees held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip, and that the return of detainees is the most urgent issue, and Israel isn’t doing enough to return them.

Recently escalation in the impact of the high death rate among the Israeli army.

The Israeli media revealed a dispute between the Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and the Minister of Economy, Nir Barkat.

Barakat considered in a government meeting that Netanyahu is sending soldiers to die in booby-trapped buildings like ducks.

He claimed that reducing air and artillery bombardment makes it easier to kill officers and soldiers.

The recent developments in the war were reflected in the escalation of voices opposing the government’s way of leading the war, as in the statements of the former prime minister, Ehud Olmert, who demanded stopping the war and returning the prisoners from Hamas.

The former prime minister, Ehud Barak, considered that the Israelis must create a mechanism to replace Netanyahu and Itamar Ben Gvir because they aren’t fit to lead the war”.
