Despite the imposition of sanctions… The United States still buys Russian fertilizers
Data from the US Statistical Service indicate that the United States increased its purchases of Russian fertilizers during the month of February to the highest level since June 2023.
The total value of purchases in February reached $158.5 million, the highest level since last June.
The United States regularly imports Russian nitrogen and mineral fertilizers, with the value of imported nitrogen fertilizers in February reaching $84 million, and potash fertilizers reaching $74 million.
It also purchased combined mineral and phosphorus fertilizers from Russia worth approximately $550,000 during the same month.
Last year, the value of Russian fertilizer exports to the United States amounted to about $1.4 billion, making Russia ranked second on the list of fertilizer imports at 15%.
