Damascus asks the United Nations to take firm measures to prevent a repeat of the Israeli attacks and reports that six fighters were killed in the missile attack on the Syrian governorate of Hama
Damascus called on the United Nations to take “firm and immediate” measures to prevent the recurrence of the Israeli attacks.
In a letter to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the Syrian Foreign Ministry said that Israel’s continued “aggressive approach would not have been possible without the unlimited support of the US administration”.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on Friday, that at least six fighters from the Iranian-allied forces were killed in a missile attack carried out by Israel on the Syrian province of Hama.
The British-based Observatory stated that the Israeli missile attack also resulted in the destruction of warehouses and facilities for manufacturing missiles belonging to pro-Iranian forces.
The Syrian News Agency (SANA) announced earlier that the Syrian air defense media responded to an Israeli aggression at dawn on Friday, by throwing missiles at Masyaf area in Hama countryside, in the east of the country, noting that most of the enemy missiles were shot down.
The agency quoted a military source as saying that “at exactly twelve and 40 minutes from the dawn of this day, the Israeli enemy launched an aggression by directing a burst of missiles from the north of the Lebanese city of Tripoli towards Masyaf area in the western countryside of Hama.
SANA did not report any injuries or damage as a result of the attack.
Nor were there any Israeli statements confirming or denying this attack.
Israel has carried out more than 30 air strikes against targets all over Syria so far this year, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
Israeli attacks in war-torn Syria are seen as an attempt to prevent Iran, a key ally of Syrian President Bashar al Assad, from consolidating its military influence in the region.
