CNN: The Pentagon approves the delivery of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine
CNN reported on Friday, citing sources, that the Pentagon has agreed to deliver Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine.
According to CNN sources, US President Donald Trump is expected to make the final decision regarding the delivery of the missiles.
This comes at a time when President Trump stated during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte that only the United States knows how to use Tomahawk missiles and won’t share this knowledge with anyone.
In a related context, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on October 23 that “Russia’s response in the event of its territory being struck by Tomahawk missiles will be serious, if not resounding”.
When reporters asked Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov to clarify Putin’s statement, he replied that “the Russian president’s statement about responding to possible strikes with Tomahawk missiles is eloquent and comprehensive, and there is nothing that needs to be clarified here”.
Tomahawk missiles are high-precision, long-range US weapons, capable of hitting targets up to 1,500 kilometers away, and have been used previously in several conflicts, including the Gulf War and strikes on Syria.
