CIA: Chinese intention to provide Russia with lethal weapons to turn the battle against Ukraine

CIA Director William Burns announced that China is studying the possibility of sending lethal weapons to Russia to help it in its war against Ukraine.
“We’re confident that the Chinese leadership is considering the supply of lethal weapons,” Burns said in an interview with CBS on Sunday.
Burns added, “We see that a final decision hasn’t yet been taken about this, and we don’t see evidence of actual shipments of lethal equipment”.
He stated that it was important for Secretary of State Antony Blinken and President Joe Biden to “clarify the consequences of this to deter them, because it would be a risky and unwise bet”.
When asked why Beijing would risk its relations with the United States and Europe if it provided Ukraine with lethal weapons, he said: “It’s a good question, and that’s why I hope they don’t”.
On Saturday, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan warned of real costs that would be imposed on China if it provided Russia with lethal weapons.
