China calls on the Biden administration to focus on cooperation and managing disputes
Senior Chinese diplomat Yang Jiechi, called on Tuesday, the new US president administration, Joe Biden, to focus on cooperation and managing differences over bilateral relations in a way that would restore relations to their previous path of continuous development.
Yang, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, was quoted by the New China News Agency (Xinhua) as saying, during a virtual conversation with members of the Board of Directors of the National Committee for US-China Relations, that bilateral relations are now “going through a decisive moment and facing new opportunities and new challenges.”
He added that there is a task for both China and the United States, which is to return relations to a developmental and constructive path, and establish a model for interaction between the two great countries that focuses on peaceful coexistence and cooperation that is beneficial to both sides.
He said China hopes the new US administration will respond to the wishes of the people of the two countries.
