Changing in the Israeli government targeting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The Israeli government made adjustments to its structure, as its Foreign Minister, Eli Cohen, was removed and appointed Minister of Energy and Infrastructure.
Cohen was succeeded by Israel Katz as Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Meanwhile, the Israeli media reported that Cohen’s removal from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs came in response to his statements in which he stressed that the Israeli government was fully responsible for the attack of October 7, which was launched by the Palestinian factions in Gaza.
The Israeli government decided that Minister Cohen will continue to serve as a member of the Ministerial Committee for National Security Affairs (Political and Security Ministerial Council) not ex officio.
According to Maariv newspaper, the Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen said that the Israeli government bears responsibility for the attack of last October 7 and that an investigation committee must be formed to hold those who were negligent accountable.
Cohen added that talk about settlement in the Gaza Strip is premature and that restoring Security comes first, adding, “There will be no Hamas, we will return the kidnapped ones, and we will have security control over Gaza”.
