London announced Tuesday that a small number of British military personnel are participating in a US-led mission in Israel to monitor the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.

The British Ministry of Defense said in a statement that a small number of British officers responsible for planning have been assigned to the US-led Civilian Military Coordination Center (CMCC).

British Defense Secretary John Healy said Monday that his country, at Washington’s request, would play a pivotal role in efforts to consolidate the ceasefire.

“We can contribute to monitoring the ceasefire… We’ve also, at the request of the United States, appointed a two-star officer in the civilian-military command as deputy commander,” Haley added during an event in central London.

This announcement came as US Vice President J.D. Vance, during a visit to Israel on Tuesday, inaugurated the joint US-Israeli ceasefire monitoring coordination center in Kiryat Gat in the southwest of Israel.
