Bloomberg: If Trump Wins… Musk Could Become a Mediator Between the US and China
Bloomberg said that the emergence of billionaire Elon Musk as one of the major donors to the campaign of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump bodes well for Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, who has donated more than $100 million to support Trump, has extensive business interests in China, and has enjoyed privileges rarely offered to other foreign investors.
For example, half of Tesla’s electric cars are manufactured in China.
Bloomberg noted that Trump had previously said he expected to appoint his closest supporters, Musk and politician Robert Kennedy Jr., to influential positions in a future administration if he were re-elected.
Experts said Musk is flattering the Chinese, so they are treating him in a special way.
They will certainly use this to try to influence the Trump administration.
Musk himself is pro-China, and enjoys the benefits that China has offered to a small number of foreign investors, the source told Bloomberg, and Musk himself is regularly received by senior Chinese officials during his trips to the country.
“Musk will be a key intermediary between the US and China on many technology and trade issues in a second Trump administration,” said technology investor Kevin Xu.
