Bloomberg: Germany intends to provide Ukraine with air defenses systems

Germany intends to provide Ukraine with additional air defenses to help protect grain shipments from possible Russian attacks, according to German official source.
Bloomberg quoted German sources that Berlin will send an additional Iris-T air defense system and more than 12 Gebard anti-aircraft guns to provide coverage for shipments heading to Romania along the country’s southern coast.
The weapons are expected to arrive in Ukraine by the end of this year, and other Iris-T units will also arrive once they are built.
Kiev has been seeking to accelerate grain shipments across the Danube River and overland via the so-called solidarity corridors since the collapse of an agreement allowing grain exports through Black Sea ports and through the Bosphorus Strait in Türkiye.
Fewer ships are also sailing through sections of water off the coasts of Romania and Bulgaria, in defiance of fears of Russian attacks.
According to Bloomberg, German sources didn’t reveal the specific methods that German defenses would use to cover them or whether they would include other capabilities.
