Biden to welcome Trump in his protocol visit to the White House on Wednesday
US President Joe Biden will receive Donald Trump, who will succeed him in January, at the White House on Wednesday at 16:00 GMT in the Oval Office, his spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre announced on Saturday.
Biden had pledged to ensure a peaceful and orderly transfer of power with the Republican president-elect, who won a major victory on Tuesday over Democrat Kamala Harris.
The meeting aims to prepare for the next Trump administration to take over the reins of power.
This meeting was previously announced without specifying a date.
Trump never acknowledged his defeat in 2020 and boycotted Joe Biden’s inauguration.
His team quoted him on Thursday as saying he was looking forward to this meeting at the White House with bated breath.
The Republican billionaire, who has been the target of two assassination attempts during his election campaign, in addition to being charged and convicted in a criminal case, has 74 days to form his government team.
Trump announced on Thursday the first appointment in his upcoming administration after his decisive victory, choosing his election campaign manager Susie Wiles to take over as White House chief of staff, making her the first woman appointed to this high-ranking position.
