Biden intends to appoint Antony Blinken as Secretary of State

The US President-elect, Joe Biden, will announce the appointment of his longtime foreign policy advisor, Antony Blinken, as Secretary of State in his next administration, according to what US media reported on Sunday (local time), from they include the “New York Times” and “Bloomberg” news agency, citing informed sources at the White House.

It is noteworthy that Blinkin, 58, worked with Biden for more than 10 years, and was his national security advisor from 2009 to 2013, when he was vice president under former President Barack Obama.

He was a foreign policy advisor, and began his career in the State Department during the Bill Clinton administration.

Biden is scheduled to announce his selections for the new cabinet on Tuesday, his chief aide, Ron Klein, told ABC News earlier on Sunday, without giving further details.

Biden had said that he wanted to reorganize his country’s foreign policy, re-join international agreements that include the Paris climate agreement, and continue to work with the World Health Organization.
